Homnna

What travellers ask first.

The price, the cash, the tip, the tea instead of wine: the answers, as the app keeps them.

The teapot, a glass of mint and the sweets, on the tray

Before you ask

Is it a cooking class?

No. You sit at a family's table and eat what she cooked for her own family. Nobody teaches and nothing is staged: it is a meal, in a home.

Where does Homnna work?

In Morocco. The first homes are opening in Agadir. An ask reaches the families near where it is made.

Can I book ahead?

Yes: a table for a day up to two weeks away. Choose the city you will be in; the families there answer with their meal, their time and their price.

What if no family answers?

Nothing is paid. Ask again in one tap, at the same price, or change it.

Can children come?

Yes, with an adult who is responsible for them. Say how many you are when you ask.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Homnna opens in the browser of the phone you have, and can be put on its home screen.

Money

How much does a meal cost?

You name it, a person. The app starts from the usual price of the meal: 70 MAD for breakfast, 120 for lunch, 60 for afternoon tea and 120 for dinner. A family answers with what the whole table comes to: your price, or her own, and you choose.

How do I pay?

In cash, to the family, at her table: the total you agreed. Nothing is paid to Homnna, and no card is asked for.

Is a tip expected?

No. The agreed total is the whole price, and a family may not ask you for more.

At the table

What language is spoken at the table?

Darija and French everywhere; several families manage English. Pointing at food and laughing works in all languages.

Vegetarian? Allergies?

Say it in the booking form. Tagines adapt very well, and the family will know before you arrive. Serious allergies: please state them clearly; these are home kitchens, not laboratories.

Should I bring something?

Nothing is expected. A box of pastries from the souk never hurt anyone.

Is alcohol served?

No. Mint tea flows instead, and there will be a lot of it.

Can I cancel?

Yes, from your table in the app, as early as you can and before its agreed time. The family cooks for you personally.

Your ID

Why do you ask for my ID?

Because a family is opening their private home to you. The first time, Didit checks your passport or ID card and a short selfie, in about three minutes. The family sees only your pseudo, and Homnna keeps no copy of the document.
